Planning Your Vacation Length
Planning your Vacation Length in Orlando for Disney and Universal can be as tricky as choosing your first ride of the day. Whether you’re doing a whirlwind weekend or planning a two-week epic, we’ll help you find the sweet spot between FOMO and full-on exhaustion—because rest days are magical too.
So, how long should your Orlando vacation be? That’s a great question!
Your ideal trip length depends on three key factors:
•Overall Budget
•Time Available
•Who’s Traveling
Your budget might allow for an extended stay, but your schedule could be tight—so these two often go hand in hand. The best advice? Be flexible! A trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando can quickly become overwhelming at the planning stage. Note we have had experience of a wide range of vacation lengths from 5 days to several months and planning is very different for both.
The More Days, the Better Deal
Both Disney and Universal follow a “the more you stay, the less you pay per day” ticket model when purchasing in the United States. A one-day ticket is expensive, but the per-day cost drops significantly for multi-day tickets.
For example, Disney’s standard U.S. ticket pricing:
•1-Day Ticket: $$$
•3-Day Ticket: $$ per day
•7-Day Ticket: $ per day
For international travellers, there are often special ticket options available in your home country.
Example: UK Disney Tickets
Disney offers two primary ticket options for visitors from the United Kingdom:
•7-Day Ticket
•14-Day Ticket
Surprisingly, the price difference between these two is minimal—around £30 per person. Plus, UK-exclusive tickets include extra perks at no additional cost.

Universal Orlando also offers multi-day tickets with savings, including park-to-park options, which are essential if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida.

Longer Stays = More Savings (But Also More Costs)
Planning Your Vacation Length
Staying longer saves you money on park tickets, but don’t forget—you’ll also be paying extra for accommodation, meals, transportation, and, of course, more souvenirs (because let’s be real, resisting the gift shops at Diagon Alley or the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. is nearly impossible).
The third type of tickets we’ll cover later? Annual Passes! Depending on your plans, these could be a game-changer.
No matter how long you stay, careful planning will help you make the most of your Disney and Universal adventure!
