Disney’s Hollywood Studios Prepares for Monsters, Inc. Land
After amusing and delighting guests for over 30 years, MuppetVision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will officially close on 7th June 2025. The closure will open the door for the long-rumoured Monsters, Inc. themed land, bringing guests new entertainment from the beloved Pixar franchise.
The change is part of Disney’s continued investment in keeping parks feeling fresh and expanding the park, following the recent success of more immersive lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. While details on the new Monsters, Inc. area remain limited, you can expect attractions and experiences based on Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, including the long rumoured Door themed Coaster shown in some concept images.

As the official closing date, MuppetVision 3D approaches let’s take a look back at a brief history of this beloved attraction.
MuppetVision 3D opened in May 1991, MuppetVision 3D was one of the last projects personally overseen by the legendary Jim Henson before his passing in May 1990. The attraction combines animatronics, live performance and 3D effects with that Waka Waka Muppet humour, starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and more, as their attempt to showcase their new MuppetVision technology only for chaos to follow.
The show also featured Disney’s first ever CGI character appearance, Waldo C. Graphic, along with my personal favourite Muppets, grumpy (no not that grumpy!) old men Statler and Waldorf, who have had plenty to say about the show’s antics over the years.
MuppetVision 3D has remained a fan (and personal) favourite due to its humour and nostalgic appeal.
Remaining mostly unchanged over the 30 years this attraction has been a time capsule of 90’s Disney nostalgia.

What’s Next for the Muppets?
Even though MuppetVision 3D is closing, this isn’t the end for Kermit and the gang at Walt Disney World! The Muppets are scheduled to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, transforming this high-speed roller coaster into an Electric Mayhem themed thrill ride.
Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, the Muppets’ resident rock band, will bring signature groovy vibes to the attraction, replacing the classic Aerosmith’s soundtrack with their own musical style. While an official timeline for this takeover is yet to be announced, expect this to be released sometime after MuppetVision 3D closes.

Plan Your Visit Before It’s Gone!
If you want to experience MuppetVision 3D one last time, visit before 7th June 2025. This attraction has been part of Hollywood Studios for over 30 years, and its departure marks the end of an era for many Disney fans.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Monsters, Inc. land and the Muppets’ Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster transformation!
