Disney’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Your Ultimate Guide to Skipping the Lines Like a True Pro

Table of Contents

If there’s one thing all Disney guests can agree on, it’s that even though lines are more fun and immersive these days waiting in long lines still isn’t fun. We’ve all been there, excited to jump on our favourite attraction, only to be faced with a two-hour wait, making even the most patient Disney-goer question their life choices. Enter the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Disney’s ultimate line-skipping solution, promising more rides, less waiting, and a whole lot more magic (for a price, of course). But is it really worth dropping a large amount of Pixie Dust on it? Let’s break it down so you can decide if it’s the fast pass to happiness or just a very expensive mouse trap.

What is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

Unlike Disney’s other Lightning Lane offerings the Single Pass and Multi Pass, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is Disney’s top tier, an all access paid skip the line system (well sot of in my opinion). Unlike the previous two systems, this pass grants you one time Lightning Lane access to every eligible attraction in the specific park it has been purchased for for that day. This pass’s big plus is no more hassle of booking specific time slots. It’s pure line skipping freedom at your own pace.

Oh, and to sweeten the deal (again sort of), it also includes Disney PhotoPass attraction digital downloads, so you can relive your on-ride screaming face for years to come.

How Much Does It Cost?

Brace yourself, this is not your average park add-on. To start with the Lightning Lane Premier Pass pricing is dynamic (meaning it fluctuates based on crowd levels), but expect to pay:

**$150-$400+ per person, per day**

The busier the park, the higher the price, so if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom on Christmas morning, you’d better be ready to dig deep into those Mickey-shaped pockets or hope Santa had you at the top of the nice list.

How Do You Buy It & When Can You Get It?

Purchasing the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is simple:

  1. Open the My Disney Experience app: Your digital ticket to all things Disney.
  2. Select the Premier Pass option: This pass covers every eligible Lightning Lane attraction.
  3. Use at your own pace: No booking times, no stress. Just tap into the Lightning Lane whenever you’re ready.

The only difference in the booking process is for Resort and Non Resort guests

  • Disney Resort Hotel guests and select partner hotels: Can purchase up to 7 days in advance.
  • All other guests: Can purchase up to 3 days in advance.

This means onsite guests get first dibs, which could make all the difference on high-demand days.

What Rides Are Included?

The short answer? All Lightning Lane attractions. That’s right, no tiers, no picking and choosing. You get access to every major ride that offers a Lightning Lane option, including:

  • Magic Kingdom: TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, Soarin’
  • Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Toy Story Mania
  • Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris

This sure is the fastest way to conquer each parks attractions in just one day.

Is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass Worth It?

This is the Mickey dollar question. The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is expensive, but it does eliminate the one hassle every Disney trip has in common, waiting in lines.

Consider it if:

  • You’re visiting during peak season when wait times are outrageous.
  • You want maximum flexibility without worrying about booking time slots.
  • You’re traveling with kids (or impatient adults) who won’t tolerate long queues.

Skip it if:

  • You’re visiting during low-crowd periods where standby waits are short.
  • You don’t mind strategic ride planning and using the regular Lightning Lane options.
  • You’d rather spend that money on Dole Whips and spirit jerseys.

Pro Tips for Making the Most of It

  • Buy early: Premier Passes can sell out fast on busy days.
  • Use with Early Entry:  If you’re staying at a Disney resort, combine it with Early Theme Park Entry to ride major attractions hopefully more then once.
  • Save for when the wait times creep up: During even the busy park days wait times can be low for some attractions, don’t use your one time use on a ride that is practically a walk on.
  • Pace yourself – You’re not locked into ride time slots, so plan a natural flow through the parks to avoid backtracking.

Final Thoughts: Does Disney’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass offer Good Value?

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is Disney’s most powerful skip the line tool yet, but it comes at a steep price. If you want to ride more and wait less, it’s a dream come true. If you’re on a budget, it might feel like a Mickey sized splurge. Either way, knowing your options can help you plan the most magical trip possible.

For me personally, it’s not the best value, but I can absolutely see why some guests would find it worth every penny. If you’re short on time, visiting during peak season, or just want to ride everything without stress, it’s a game-changer. However, for the price, I do think Disney could offer a little more—perhaps extra perks or even multiple rides per attraction.

Ultimately, it comes down to your budget and priorities. If skipping long waits is worth the price tag to you, then this pass is pure Disney gold. If not, there are still plenty of ways to have a magical day with good planning and smart strategy.

  1. Nice post! I love Disney World but I’ve haven’t heard of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass. I’m an amusement park junkie and I always pay to skip the line because I love rides so much. This one is interesting in that the price fluctuates…it seems like it could be a great thing or a bank breaker if you go at peak season. Well…I’ll be in Orlando in July, so let’s see how it turns out!

    1. Thanks! It’s definitely a love it or bank breaker kind of pass. It’s great for ride junkies or if your time at the parks are limited! Let us know how July goes… and may the queues be ever in your favour!
