Dino-Rama Extinct!
Construction Begins for Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom
Well, it has finally happened—Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama has gone the way of the dinosaurs. After years of speculation, the wacky, carnival-area in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has officially become extinct, making room for the much-anticipated Tropical Americas expansion.
Walls Up, Dinos Out
As of today, construction walls have sprouted up where Triceratop Spin, Primeval Whirl (RIP, you chaotic twirl machine), and the fossilised remains of carnival the games once stood. Even the digital and paper park maps have been updated to reflect the change—so if you were hoping to take one last spin through this roadside-style dino fair, you’re about 65 million seconds too late.
The End of an Era-saurus
Dino-Rama was always a divisive spot. Some loved its quirky, Route 66-inspired theming, while others thought it felt a little… prehistoric (and not in a good way). Regardless of where you stood, there’s no denying it had its charm—who doesn’t love a giant, gaudy fibreglass dinosaur? But with Disney shifting gears toward immersive, highly themed experiences, it’s no surprise that a new land is taking over.
What’s Next?
Disney has confirmed that the Tropical Americas expansion will include an Encanto-inspired area, as well as elements of South American wildlife and culture. While exact details are still under wraps, we know one thing: it’s going to be dino-mite (sorry, had to).
So, farewell, Dino-Rama—you may be gone, but you’ll always live on in our slightly blurry, sun-soaked vacation photos. Now, let’s hope they don’t bone this new land up!
